Language

The official language in Costa Rica is Spanish.

Costa Rica is on the same time zone as our Salt Lake City mountain time.

The power plug sockets used in Costa Rica are Type A and Type B.

Climate

Although Costa Rica is warm and dry, Costa Rica is incredibly rainy so be sure to bring clothing items that are accustomed for the warm weather and rain. A poncho or rain coat is recommended.

Health

Medical insurance is recommended when traveling to Costa Rica but not required.

Tips

Take note that although all tourism workers are paid a fixed salary, tips are used as their main income. It is considerate to tip your tourism workers although it is not required. Tourism workers should only be tipped if exceptional service is provided.

Currency

The legal currency in Costa Rica is the Colon. 1 US dollar is equal to 540.932 CRC.

What is the difference between the Rain Forest and the Cloud Forest?

The main difference is the amount of rain. It doesn't rain as much in the cloud forest as it does in the rain forest. The species of flora and fauna found in each may also differ.

Approximately 903 species.

Is the water drinkable in Costa Rica?

Although the water is safe we do recommend drinking bottled water.

What is the currency in Costa Rica?

The Colon (CRC) although dollars are widely accepted.

Do I need an electrical adapter?

Outlets are the same as standard US outlets.

What should I bring when visiting the Rain Forest?

Inspect Repellant! A comfortable pair of hiking boots and a rain coat with a hood or poncho.

Spend the day outside seeing what Costa Rica has to offer! All meals will be provided at the hotel.

2. 7:30 AM - 8:00 AM - Transfer from hotel to ATV location.

This transfer will take about 30 minutes.

3. 8:00 AM - 10:30 AM - Arrive at ATV location for ATV tour.

4. 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM - Free time.

5. 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM - Transfer from hotel to Wetlands Park.

This transfer will take about 30 minutes.

6. 1:30 PM - 5:00 PM - Arrive for Wetlands, La Casona, and Sugarcane and Rum Tours. || 10.393433809813242, -85.45560301297941

Here you will be going on a guided boat tour and a Rum and Sugarcane Tour. You'll have coffee and snacks at La Casona and have fun making your own Rum flavor on the Rum and Sugarcane Tour. Palo Verde National Park was declared a wildlife refuge during the 1970s because over 60 species of birds used the laguna, or wetland, as a migratory stop. There were once 35,000 black bellied whistling ducks, 25,000 blue winged teal, and several hundred migrating ducks during the dry season.[3] Later the park was declared a national park and operated under the government agency MINAE (Ministry of Environment, Energy and Telecommunications). In the 1990s, the park was put on the Ramsar list of wetlands of international importance and also on the Montreux Record.
