While not mandatory, a tip of 10-15% in restaurants and for guides is customary for good service.

Currency

  • The legal currency in Costa Rica is the Costa Rican Colón (CRC). 1 US dollar is approximately equal to 540.932 CRC, but exchange rates can fluctuate.
