Time Zone

  • Jamaica is one hour ahead of our local Salt Lake City mountain time during daylight saving months and operates on Eastern Standard Time (UTC -05:00) year-round.

Electricity

  • In Jamaica, the standard power plug sockets are Type A and B. Jamaica typically uses the same wall sockets as the USA, so most American travelers will not need an adapter.

Climate

  • Medical insurance is recommended but not required when traveling to Jamaica. Visitors should bring any necessary medications and use insect repellent to help prevent mosquito bites.

Tips

  • Take note that although tourism workers receive wages, tips are an important part of their income. Tipping is appreciated for good service. In restaurants, bars, hotels, and for tour guides, a tip of 10–15% is customary.

Currency

  • The currency in Jamaica is the Jamaican Dollar (JMD). US Dollars are widely accepted in tourist areas, resorts, and many businesses throughout the island.

Safety

  • Jamaica is generally safe for tourists, especially in resort areas and popular destinations. It's advisable to stay in well-populated areas, avoid displaying valuables, and exercise caution when traveling at night.

Transportation

  • Public transportation options include route taxis, buses, and private transfers. Taxis are readily available, and renting a car is a popular option for exploring the island. Remember that Jamaicans drive on the left side of the road.

Cuisine

  • Jamaica offers a diverse range of cuisine, including jerk chicken, fresh seafood, curry goat, ackee and saltfish, rice and peas, and tropical fruits. Don't miss trying local favorites such as patties and festival bread.

Local Customs

  • Jamaicans are known for their friendliness and hospitality. Greeting people politely is appreciated, and saying "good morning" or "good afternoon" before starting a conversation is customary. Tipping around 10–15% in restaurants is appreciated.

Shopping

  • Jamaica offers a variety of shopping options, from luxury resort boutiques to local craft markets. Popular items include Blue Mountain coffee, Jamaican rum, handmade wood carvings, artwork, spices, and jewelry. Bargaining is common in local markets.

Wildlife and Nature

  • Explore Jamaica's natural beauty, including waterfalls, tropical rainforests, coral reefs, and the Blue Mountains. Popular outdoor activities include hiking, snorkeling, river rafting, and birdwatching.

Respect for the Environment

  • When visiting beaches, waterfalls, and natural attractions, practice Leave No Trace principles. Help preserve Jamaica's natural beauty by disposing of trash properly and respecting wildlife and marine ecosystems.

Dress Code

  • While beachwear is acceptable in resort areas and on the beach, it's best to dress modestly when visiting towns, churches, or dining in upscale restaurants.

Our Happy Clients

All the details were taken care of. Our tour guide was personable, knows the history and all of the interesting facts, entertaining, and gracious. This is our first tour with Evolution35, but it won’t be our last. We are already planning our next trip to Italy with them.

Our Happy Clients

I was very pleased with the service that I received from evolution35 travel company. Our 9 day trip to Cancún was wonderful time in this beautiful country. The resorts that evolution35 chose for our stay were all wonderful! Evolution35 people was in constant communication with us via email and WhatsApp asking how the trip was going and if we had any concerns or requests and when I did have a request they responded immediately and took care of it. Everything including tours and transportation were taken care of for us so it was very relaxing knowing we did not have to think about anything except when and where we were going next. Evolution35 also worked hard to ensure that we have a wonderful time during our stay in Cancun an that we return home safe. We are planing a trip to Costa Rica with Evolution35 in October.

Our Happy Clients

The Paris 99 trip was great. We enjoyed the driving tour of Paris, although we did fall asleep a few times as we were tired from the overnight flight from SLC. Our guide, Pedro, provided excellent information on the history of Paris and the sites we saw. The tour of Versailles was excellent, but we do wish we could have spent a little more time there. The Eifel Tower was amazing but felt a little rushed. The dinner on the Seine was excellent. Thank you for a great trip.

Evolution35 Paris tour was an unforgettable experience. Our tour guide, Pedro, was spectacular. He is very knowledgeable and personable. He treated us like family. The tour was a happy balance between guided sightseeing tours and free time. We had so much fun that we can't wait to see what other tours Evolution35 offer.

We did the Costa Rica trip and it was incredible. Zipline, rainforest, boat rides, catamaran. It
was soooo much trip for the money. Loved the hotel Tabacón with the hot springs and the
Westin was also 5 star! You go from the Carribean side to the Pacific. It's the trip of a
lifetime. Well done evolution35

Our Happy Clients

Fantastic trip to Paris with Evolution 35. Between booking our trip and the time we left, we had lots of questions and they were always so quick to respond to our emails. It was so wonderful that they took care of many details of our trip for us, especially the first couple of days as we were getting oriented in a foreign place! Our tour guide was hilarious and knowledgeable. He helped us stay safe and have a lot of fun too! A great experience for us!

Our Happy Clients

¡Gracias!
