Kauai, Hawaii

Language

  • English is widely spoken in Kauai, but you’ll also encounter Hawaiian phrases, especially in cultural sites and local businesses. Learning a few words like Aloha (hello) and Mahalo (thank you) can enhance your experience.

Time Zone

  • Kauai operates on Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time (HAST), which is UTC -10. Kauai doesn’t observe Daylight Saving Time, so it’s four hours behind Salt Lake City Mountain Time for most of the year.

Electricity

  • Kauai uses Type A and Type B power sockets, the same as the rest of the United States. The standard voltage is 120V, and the frequency is 60Hz. Most U.S. devices will work without a converter.

Climate

  • Kauai's tropical climate offers warm weather year-round, with temperatures averaging between 70-85°F. The island has a wet and dry season, with the wettest months typically from November to March. The north shore tends to be rainier, while the south shore is drier.

Health

  • While medical insurance is not required to visit Kauai, it’s highly recommended to ensure coverage in case of emergencies. There are hospitals and medical centers available on the island. https://www.travelexinsurance.com/homepage?location=44-0110&go=bp

Tips

  • Tipping is appreciated in Kauai and follows the standard U.S. practice. Leave 15-20% for good service at restaurants, and consider tipping hotel staff, tour guides, and taxi drivers for exceptional service.

Currency

  • The official currency of Kauai is the U.S. Dollar (USD). Credit cards are widely accepted, but it's a good idea to carry some cash for smaller local businesses, especially in remote areas.

Nature and Wildlife

  • Kauai is known for its lush landscapes and natural beauty. Be mindful of the environment by following Leave No Trace principles, such as staying on marked trails and not disturbing wildlife. This helps preserve the island’s ecosystems.

Transportation

  • A rental car is the most convenient way to explore Kauai. While there are some bus services, they don’t cover all tourist areas. Roads on the island can be narrow and winding, so drive carefully.

Beaches and Ocean Safety

  • Kauai’s beaches are stunning, but the ocean can have strong currents, especially on the north shore. Always swim at lifeguarded beaches and pay attention to posted warnings about surf conditions.

Sunscreen

  • Hawaii has banned sunscreens containing oxybenzone and octinoxate due to their harmful effects on coral reefs. Be sure to bring reef-safe sunscreen to protect both your skin and the environment.

All the details were taken care of. Our tour guide was personable, knows the history and all of the interesting facts, entertaining, and gracious. This is our first tour with Evolution35, but it won’t be our last. We are already planning our next trip to Italy with them.

Our Happy Clients

I was very pleased with the service that I received from evolution35 travel company. Our 9 day trip to Cancún was wonderful time in this beautiful country. The resorts that evolution35 chose for our stay were all wonderful! Evolution35 people was in constant communication with us via email and WhatsApp asking how the trip was going and if we had any concerns or requests and when I did have a request they responded immediately and took care of it. Everything including tours and transportation were taken care of for us so it was very relaxing knowing we did not have to think about anything except when and where we were going next. Evolution35 also worked hard to ensure that we have a wonderful time during our stay in Cancun an that we return home safe. We are planing a trip to Costa Rica with Evolution35 in October.

Our Happy Clients

The Paris 99 trip was great. We enjoyed the driving tour of Paris, although we did fall asleep a few times as we were tired from the overnight flight from SLC. Our guide, Pedro, provided excellent information on the history of Paris and the sites we saw. The tour of Versailles was excellent, but we do wish we could have spent a little more time there. The Eifel Tower was amazing but felt a little rushed. The dinner on the Seine was excellent. Thank you for a great trip.

Our Happy Clients

We did the Costa Rica trip and it was incredible. Zipline, rainforest, boat rides, catamaran. It
was soooo much trip for the money. Loved the hotel Tabacón with the hot springs and the
Westin was also 5 star! You go from the Carribean side to the Pacific. It's the trip of a
lifetime. Well done evolution35

Our Happy Clients

Fantastic trip to Paris with Evolution 35. Between booking our trip and the time we left, we had lots of questions and they were always so quick to respond to our emails. It was so wonderful that they took care of many details of our trip for us, especially the first couple of days as we were getting oriented in a foreign place! Our tour guide was hilarious and knowledgeable. He helped us stay safe and have a lot of fun too! A great experience for us!

Our Happy Clients

¡Gracias!
