Climate

The climate in Peru ranges in what part you are in and the time of year traveled. On average Peru is a semi-arid, subtropical desert climate. Be sure to pack clothing items that accommodate the weather and outdoor activities. We recommend packing a rain coat or poncho.

Health

Medical insurance is recommended when traveling to Peru.

Tips

Take note that although all tourism workers are paid a fixed salary, tips are used as their main income. It is considerate to tip your tourism workers although it is not required. Tourism workers should only be tipped if exceptional service is provided.

Breakfast will be from 7:00 am - 7:30 am at the hotel. Today will be a tour of the Sacred Valley. This tour includes Ollantaytambo, Moray and Moras. This tour will be all day from 7:30 am - 7:30 pm with lunch in between (not included). After the tour you will transfer to the hotel and the night will be spent in Cusco.

Ollantaytambo is a village in the Sacred Valley of south Peru, set on the Urubamba River amid snow-capped mountains. It's known for the Ollantaytambo ruins, a massive Inca fortress with large stone terraces on a hillside. Major sites within the complex include the huge Sun Temple and the Princess Baths fountain. The village's old town is an Inca-era grid of cobblestoned streets and adobe buildings.

Moray is an archaeological site in Peru approximately 50 kilometres northwest of Cuzco on a high plateau at about 3,500 metres and just west of the village of Maras. Maras is a town near the city of Cusco in the Sacred Valley of southeastern Peru. It's known for the Maras Salt Mines, thousands of individual salt pools on a hillside, dating back to Incan times. West of the town is Moray, an Inca archaeological site on a high plateau featuring a series of concentric terraces. Surrounding trails offer views of the snow-capped Urubamba mountain range.

Breakfast will be at the hotel at 6:00 am - 6:40 am. After breakfast you will walk to the bus station to begin your visitation to Machu Picchu. You will have the option to just hike and explore Machu Picchu and/or Huayna Picchu. Depending on your choice lunch will be between 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm. After lunch you will have free time before the train back to Cusco at 4:40 pm. You will arrive back at the hotel at 9:00 pm for dinner (not included). The night will be spent in Cusco.

4. Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu is an Incan citadel set high in the Andes Mountains in Peru, above the Urubamba River valley. Built in the 15th century and later abandoned, it’s renowned for its sophisticated dry-stone walls that fuse huge blocks without the use of mortar, intriguing buildings that play on astronomical alignments and panoramic views. Its exact former use remains a mystery.
